2015 Staglin Booth Bella Oaks Cabernet Sauvignon

Rutherford, Napa Valley

Invitingly warm, resinous and flirting with extremes, the decadent 2015 Staglin Cabernet is a brûléed, dark fruited marvel that thrills with its texture and layers. A mousse-like

quality brings a of breath air and light to the dense, concentrated mouthfeel and softens the abundant underlying tannins that provide a pleasant grip to a powdery, fine-grained

mineral driven exit that feels like the perfect hug from a distant relative.

Fairchild Stones No. 1, 2013, 750 ml

Robert Parker 100 Points!

"Absolutely perfect is the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Stones No. 1. The wine has that Mission Haut-Brion / Haut-Brion scorched-earth, gravelly, quarry-stone aromatics intermixed with blueberry, cassis and spring flowers. It is full-bodied with magnificent texture and concentration, stunning freshness, and a terrific finish that goes on for close to a minute. This is a surreal and compelling Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink 2018-2045."

Pulido-Walker Cabernet Melanson Vineyard, 2018

Thanks to an excellent set, early fruit stability, and true ripeness, the 2018 Pulido~Walker Melanson Vineyard Cabernet is an exemplary wine. It is intensely colored, with framing acidity and tons of structure. This vineyard does best with a long hang time—the longer we get to ripen the tannin, the better the result. 2018 is a prime example of what the vineyard aims for with well-integrated tannins, including a somewhat expansive mid palate and no clipping of the finish.

Scarecrow 2013

This wine is sold out at the vineyard, and has been hailed by winemakers as one of the most perfect seasons ever! Once again the Scarecrow Cabernet Sauvignon has been woven from the most balanced and luscious of the vineyard blocks on the historic J.J. Cohn Estate. Abundant with aromas of ripe purple berries, raspberries rolled in dark cocoa, hints of tarragon, cedar and tobacco and undertones of caramel and white tea, this wine provides a structured yet velvety entry, a mid-palate bursting with fresh fruit flavors, and a finish which demonstrates both power and elegance.

Scarecrow, 2014

A highly consistent vintage brings lovely cassis, black plum, violets, dried blackberries on the vine, baking spices, chestnut, and just a hint of fresh earth interconnect in the very forward aromas of this unmistakably Rutherford Cabernet. Balanced, polished with clear density, worthy of aging. The finish is of wild plums, black cherry jam, and a hint of warm vanilla.

Scarecrow, 2015

The vintage was overall smaller than previous years, but the quality was outstanding! The wine offers very showy aromas of black cherry, warm raspberries and a hint of warm toasty vanilla, with undertones of sweet earth and tobacco. Consistent with our best vintages, the entry is broad and velvety, with tannins that are polished enough to enjoy now but a structure that promises good things to those who possess the patience to wait. The finish delivers all the juiciness promised by that intensely fruit-driven nose, and the power and backbone that provide balance.

Scarecrow 2016

This vintage of Scarecrow shows very ripe dark cherry aromas, combined with cinnamon/baking spice and vanilla notes. Just a hint of earth, anise and tobacco also add complexity to the aromas. On the palate, the entry shows very juicy fresh black cherries, blackberry jam, a touch of baking spices (cardamom, clove) and warm earthy/sweet tobacco flavors. The texture is broad and round, with enough grip to stand up well to a hearty meal. As the wine opens, the solid core shows the age-worthiness of this vintage. The finish is, once again, a reminder of the fresh juicy notes promised by the aromas.
